PEGylated Terbium-Based Nanorods as Multimodal Bioimaging Contrast Agents

چکیده
Diagnostic imaging strongly relies on the use of contrast agents (CAs). In general terms, current CAs present undesirable side effects that encourage researchers and pharmaceutical companies to continually search for safer more versatile alternatives. Here, we describe synthesis characterization terbium-based nanorods (TbNRs) as a potential alternative traditional magnetic resonance (MRI) X-ray computed tomography (CT). The paramagnetism high atomic number Tb provide TbNRs with both relaxivity attenuation capabilities. After surface functionalization polyethylene glycol (PEG)-derived ligand, showed colloidal stability in physiological media. Additionally, toxicity studies conducted cell cultures zebrafish embryos demonstrated safety as-synthesized TbNRs, thus supporting their CAs. Lastly, vivo experiments mice produce remarkable enhancement MRI CT.

Bifunctional Luminomagnetic Rare-Earth Nanorods for High-Contrast Bioimaging Nanoprobes
Nanoparticles exhibiting both magnetic and luminescent properties are need of the hour for many biological applications. A single compound exhibiting this combination of properties is uncommon. Herein, we report a strategy to synthesize a bifunctional luminomagnetic Gd2-xEuxO3 (x = 0.05 to 0.5) nanorod, with a diameter of ~20 nm and length in ~0.6 μm, using hydrothermal method. Gd2O3:Eu(3+) nan...

متن کاملSilica-coated bismuth sulfide nanorods as multimodal contrast agents for a non-invasive visualization of the gastrointestinal tract.
Non-invasive and real-time imaging of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is particularly desirable for research and clinical studies of patients with symptoms arising from gastrointestinal diseases. Here, we designed and fabricated silica-coated bismuth sulfide nanorods (Bi2S3@SiO2 NRs) for a non-invasive spatial-temporally imaging of the GI tract. The Bi2S3 NRs were synthesized by a facile solvot...
متن کاملUltrasmall biomolecule-anchored hybrid GdVO4 nanophosphors as a metabolizable multimodal bioimaging contrast agent.
Multimodal molecular imaging has recently attracted much attention on disease diagnostics by taking advantage of individual imaging modalities. Herein, we have demonstrated a new paradigm for multimodal bioimaging based on amino acids-anchored ultrasmall lanthanide-doped GdVO4 nanoprobes. On the merit of special metal-cation complexation and abundant functional groups, these amino acids-anchore...
متن کاملPlasmon-resonant nanorods as multimodal agents for two-photon luminescent imaging and photothermal therapy
Plasmon-resonant gold nanorods have outstanding potential as multifunctional agents for image-guided therapies. Nanorods have large absorption cross sections at near-infrared (NIR) frequencies, and produce two-photon luminescence (TPL) when excited by fs-pulsed laser irradiation. The TPL signals can be detected with single-particle sensitivity, enabling nanorods to be imaged in vivo while passi...
